“Porn is normal, everybody watches it!” (Yet part of you still wants to know how to stop watching porn.)
Because that’s what they all say. That’s what they want you to believe, but what if there was an underlying secret to everyone’s favorite websites…
What if they were wrong, and your porn habit is what’s keeping you from reaching the next level in life?
Today we’ll answer the popular question…
Is Porn Bad For You?
Porn might not seem so bad for you. It’s just pictures of girls, right? It’s nothing that you don’t see in your day to day routine, right?
Wrong!
The problem with porn is that it has evolved. Porn used to be gentle. Back in the 20th century, when there was no internet, porn was in print alone. Magazines were all the rage and were the only way to watch porn.
Then came the videos. Videos were a step forward from print, but they still had problems. You either had to go to a movie theatre (gross) or buy the DVD’s (double gross).
That all changed when high-speed internet porn entered the conversation.
High-speed internet porn is the reason why porn has become so addictive. Internet porn is literally magazine porn on steroids.
Think about it. Print porn, you see the same pictures over and over again. The same girls. The same-sex acts (if it includes sex…most don’t).
With high-speed internet porn, the floodgates are wide open. Every niche and fetish are available for free, at the click of the button.
A tall blonde with big tits? You got it.
Interracial gang bang on a swing-set? Yup, that too.
All of your wildest dreams can be found on the internet.
Even worse, you can go through hundreds of girls instantly. Your brain is not used to that.
Clicking through twenty tabs of different porn films, each with their own girl (or girls) provides infinitely more stimulus than magazine porn does or even sex for that matter.
And that’s the issue with porn – high-speed internet porn provides too much stimulus.
After watching internet porn for years, your brain becomes desensitized to real sex, and eventually…real life.
Don’t believe me? Do an experiment on yourself.
Try to jack off to pictures ONLY for a month. I bet you won’t be able to because it doesn’t turn you on anymore.
If your issue is bad, you could get to the point that you can’t have sex without watching porn.
Talk about addiction! Sex is amazing, and you’d prefer to watch a video…of another man having sex?
There lies the problem with porn – it is addicting. Just like fast food, diet coke, or television.
And if you’re addicted, it could have disastrous effects on your life.
Don’t fret, although there are negatives to porn addiction, let me show you what’s on the other side.
7 Benefits Of Not Watching Porn
In my time as a pornstar, and now as a “love coach,” I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about dicks.
And through all my studies, I have seen men who watch a lot of porn, and live normal lives…but I’ve also met men who QUIT porn, and completely turn their lives around.
I’m not saying you’ll stop watching porn and immediately become superman, but there are countless benefits to quitting porn and reported anecdotes to go with them. Here are seven of the benefits.
Last Longer
Believe it or not, porn could be causing your premature ejaculation.
Warning: this blog post contains a lot of bro-science.
My hypothesis is that like previously mentioned, porn is extremely stimulating to the brain. When you watch a lot of porn, your brain gets used to that level of arousal.
Then, when you go to have sex, you’re so horny from all the porn, that you cum quickly. Your mind is already in sex-mode, so it rushes your body along and makes sure you orgasm fast.
The other idea I have is that when you watch a lot of porn, your masturbation technique skews your sexual performance.
The reason why is two-fold. First of all, you probably sit in a chair when you masturbate. This position collapses your pelvic floor and crushes your kegel muscles (these are the muscles responsible for making you last longer).
The second is that you probably masturbate with terrible form when you watch porn. You go really fast, with a tight grip, and quick orgasm. This isn’t like sex at all, and it’s possible you’re training yourself to be a minute man.
Instead, use masturbation as a tool to last longer, by practicing edging.
Stronger Erections
By now, you should see that porn can have devastating effects on your performance.
It can make you cum quick, but can also make your erection limp.
The explanation is simple, porn makes your penis less sensitive.
When your brain becomes so used to the extreme excitement of porn, it becomes harder for you to become excited about normal sex.
When you’re not excited for sex…well…obviously, your penis is softer.
If you’re dealing with poor erection quality, erectile dysfunction, or even if you just want to have a harder hard-on, quitting porn would be a great move.
Deeper Connection
Not to get all emotional here, but quitting porn will increase the connection you have with your woman.
The explanation is simple. Watching porn, to your brain, is the same thing as having sex. Watching porn of countless women…tells your brain you’re having sex with hundreds of women.
This means that sex with your partner is as important as the time you spend with porn girls on the screen…eventually devaluing the beautiful act that sex is.
This one might sound like BS but I know it to be true. When I was a bachelor I watched a ton of porn, and everything was fine.
Fast forward to now, and I’m a married man. When I watch porn, I can feel the relationship with my wife disappearing.
When I’m not watching porn, I feel an intense connection to her. She is my woman, and I’m her man, and if I’m going to have sex…it’s with her, and her only. No porn girls.
Try it for yourself, and you’ll reignite the fire in your relationship.
Mental Clarity & Focus
One of the biggest reasons to quit porn is to get rid of “brain fog.” If you suffer from brain fog, you know what it is, but for those who don’t know, brain fog is defined by a lack of clarity and inability to focus.
It’s a nice way to say that your brain is performing badly. A.K.A. you become dumber than you really are.
Porn could be the reason. Remember earlier when I was talking about the super stimulation that porn gives you? The chemical behind that is called dopamine. It’s a happy chemical that rewards you for doing something good, like eating or having sex.
Porn delivers so much dopamine to your brain that you become addicted. Soon enough, porn is all you can focus on. Your brain craves it.
That’s what causes brain fog. You don’t want to do anything else but watch porn, because it feels so good to your brain.
Kick the porn, and your dopamine levels will soon rebalance…bringing your mental clarity to all-time highs.
Improved Confidence
On top of mental clarity, you’ll also gain confidence.
It’s hard to explain why, but I think conquering an addiction is an empowering experience.
No matter what habit it is, changing your life builds momentum. Every time you accomplish something difficult, you remember that, and it stays with you forever. It makes accomplishing anything in the future that much easier because you have prior experience to look back on.
Quitting porn improves your confidence because it’s not easy to do. Once you do quit, you’ll feel like a certified badass, especially when you talk about it in real life. “I don’t watch porn” is an empowering statement to say in conversation.
Better Workouts
Mentally, quitting porn will make you feel good, but it’ll also make you better physically as well.
Quitting porn will make you more confident, and will improve your focus and clarity. Add to the fact that you’re probably gonna be horny from the porn withdrawals, this makes for a perfect recipe for better workouts.
Get to the gym, and you’ll know exactly what I mean. No porn turns me into a weight lifting animal.
More Free Time
This one should be easy to get. Less porn means more time for other things.
When you don’t watch porn, you don’t waste 10-30 minutes searching for that perfect scene to orgasm to.
You also masturbate less, as an organic side effect. That’s because it’s less stimulating. Most of the time, guys don’t actually want to jack off, they just want to watch porn.
Quit the porn, and you’ll jack off less…and therefore have more free time. Now you’ll be able to write that novel, spend time with your kids, or maybe just sleep more.
Alright, now that I’ve sold you on why quitting porn is a smart decision, let me show you how.
How To Stop Watching Porn For Good
The easiest way to quit porn is to make a plan. It’s completely unrealistic to try to get off the porn cold turkey.
If you can do that, go ahead, more power to you! However, most people will require a plan in order to get them off the porn for good.
To make a plan, start by taking a step back and objectively looking at how much you masturbate, and how often you look at porn.
From there, make a plan to reduce the amount, gradually, over time. Ween yourself off it, instead of ripping it off like a band-aid.
Here’s an example of what I mean by the plan.
Week 1: Masturbate 3 times/week with one porn video.
Next week: Masturbate 2 times/week with one porn video, 1 time/week with no porn.
Final Week: Masturbate 1 time/week with one porn video, 1 time/week with pictures only, 1 time/week with no porn.
You get the point. Set a routine and stick to it.
To make sure you stay on track, keep a journal. Log your masturbation sessions. When they were, how much porn you used, how you feel, why you watched porn, etc.
This helps learn your habits and how to improve them. You may find that you watch porn when you’re stressed out, or tired. Once you find your triggers, you can work to eliminate them.
Lastly, take your time.
A wise man once told me, “years of conditioning cannot be defeated in mere days.”
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably been watching porn every day for years. You’re not alone – porn is used by something like 99% of men.
When you do give in and watch it when you’re not supposed to, do not beat yourself up. Learn from your mistakes and keep moving.
One day, you’ll look back and laugh at how hard it was to quit.
The Secret To Quitting Porn
Now before I go, I wanted to share with you the #1 secret for quitting porn. It’s kind of risqué so I saved it for the end.
The best way to quit porn is to…
Have lots of sex!
Porn provides your brain with a huge dopamine rush. The best way to replace that dopamine rush? Is to substitute in the real thing – mind-blowing sex with your woman.
Unfortunately, many couples are stuck in dead bedrooms. You know what I mean, you go to bed…try to cuddle her a little…maybe kiss her back…and then she falls asleep.
You’ve got a boner, but she doesn’t want anything to do with it.
If that sounds like you, then I’ve got the recipe for success, with Revolutionary Sex.
It’s the ultimate men’s sex guide that teaches you how to become a better lover. It covers everything from foreplay to fingering, cumshots to cunnilingus.
The sad truth is that most men learn how to have sex by watching porn. What works in porn…does NOT work in real life (trust me).
That’s where Revolutionary Sex comes in. Written by my friend Alex Allman, it’s the only sex guide I recommend.
When I was struggling with bedroom boredom, I went straight to Alex. He handed me Revolutionary Sex, and the next thing you know, me and my wife were back to rocking the bedframe.
